Two months ago, I received an email from our school’s Office of Financial Aid informing us about a new scholarship opportunity. The Tennessee Chiropractic Foundation (TCF) had recently announced it would be starting a yearly scholarship with the aim of empowering the future of our profession to ensure quality chiropractic care would be available in their community. Seeing as I had just paid roughly $700 to register for the Part 1 board exam, as well as the Irene Gold review course, along with a hotel to stay in Daytona during the review course, I thought it couldn’t hurt to apply.
As everyone knows, being a student is expensive and the number of scholarship opportunities available to us is far more than the scholarships for which we actually apply. After the deadline for the TCF scholarship closed, it was just a waiting game, but one that was well worth it. I am proud to announce I was chosen to be awarded their inaugural scholarship! Winning this award is not only about the financial stipend, but about the pride of showing that we at NUHS can both excel in and out of the classroom.
I would never have known about this scholarship opportunity had it not been for our school, but there are so many others as well, like Bucks for Boards, which we as students should all be aware of. National University prepares us exceptionally well academically, but the announcement of this award has showed me just how much extracurricular involvement can play a role in setting us apart. Participating in school functions, tutoring, or even writing blogs, can set you apart from the herd.
I would like to thank TCF once again for their generous award, and I hope to make them proud. Equally as important, I would like to thank Dr. Freeman and all of our NUHS staff for guiding me along this path and pushing me to be the best student I can be.
