The American Massage Therapy Association held its annual convention in Denver, Colorado, Sept. 17-20. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Mehmet Oz. Dr. Oz has been a staunch advocate of the therapeutic benefits provided by massage therapy.

He had sought out and introduced himself to Dr. Cambron, because he is very interested in massage research. Dr. Cambron is also the president of the Massage Therapy Foundation and co-founder of massagenet.org, a peer-to-peer research network for the profession.

Dr. Cambron gave a brief presentation about the Massage Therapy Foundation during the opening session. She also gave a presentation during the Research Panel titled “What Research Tells Us About Pain Management: Systematic Reviews.”

We’re glad that one of our own NUHS celebrities got to meet another celebrity, and that both are promoting wider research on the importance of massage for health and wellness.
