National University of Health Sciences recently took part in the Lisle-DuPage County Veteran’s Resource Fair in Wheaton to raise awareness about the NUHS Veterans Clinic and the free services provided to veterans and their families.

NUHS interns Mikel Marshall, Emily Doudlah and Sarah Montesa shared brochures and had acupuncture cups on hand to help familiarize attendees with Chinese cupping therapy. They also discussed the benefits of acupuncture and other treatments offered at the NUHS Whole Health Center, along with the conditions that tend to respond well to the care NUHS offers.

“Some of the people we spoke with were very receptive and even offered us stories of their past experiences with acupuncture or chiropractic care,” Montesa said. “Overall, it was a great experience.”

The NUHS Veterans Clinics at the Illinois campus and Florida-site currently offer acupuncture treatment to veterans free of charge. Veterans and their spouses also receive a 20% discount on all other services. The clinic specializes in treating PTSD, addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, flashbacks, musculoskeletal injuries and more.

To schedule an appointment at one of NUHS’s Veterans Clinics or for a complete listing of discounted services available to veterans and their spouses, contact the Lombard, Illinois clinic at 630-629-9664, or the Pinellas Park, Florida clinic at 727-873-7870.
