Club Lunch & CCL

by May 31, 2024

Club lunch is an event that happens at the beginning of each new trimester to introduce all students, especially our new first trimester students, to all of the different clubs that our school offers. These clubs provide incredible extracurricular learning opportunities for students who want to get more involved and even network as a way of further enhancing their future careers. Some of these amazing clubs include the Motion Palpation Institute, or “MoPal,” Sports Council, Chi Rho Xi and Rehab Club. These clubs each have their individual draws that can each provide unique and valuable experience for us as students.

During club lunch, it is also tradition for Dr. Strauss to present the Co-Curricular Learning (CCL) awards for the students who have gone above and beyond completing their co-curricular learning assignments. While CCLs are part of our graduation requirements, they are mainly focused on giving back and volunteering. They help us as students give back to our communities while still offering another way to obtain on-the-job experience with chiropractic relevancy. For example, I have participated in cadaver lab workshops, where Dr. Hammer and Dr. Machini host students from other programs like P.T.A. and D.O. programs to view and learn off of our donor bodies. We as NUHS students are then provided the opportunity to assist in teaching, an invaluable way of both contributing to other future health care professionals’ education and reviewing our own anatomy knowledge. I had the honor of receiving this award and couldn’t be prouder of my ability to contribute to both our school and community!

Dylan Kahn

My name is Dylan Kahn, and I am currently heading into my fifth trimester of the Doctor of Chiropractic program at the Florida campus of NUHS. I have a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, with a minor in chemistry from Florida State University. When I am not in school, I love to adventure with my fiancé, Sarah, powerlift, and play the piano. I hope that this blog will be helpful to all those that read it in understanding my journey as a chiropractic student, and what life is like for all of us on this path.

Personal Thoughts on Making a Difference

When I first entered chiropractic school, I believed that what we did was adjust and treat spinal conditions. However, chiropractic care is so much more than any individual aspect of care; it is an ideology of wholistic health care not driven from the treatment of illnesses, but actually aligning all aspects of life with the ultimate goal of health and preventive care.
