Finishing Phase One

The approaching conclusion of this trimester not only marks the beginning of our much-needed break and my finishing of Trimester Four, but a much larger milestone. In two weeks, I will have completed Phase One! The basic sciences phase of the program has encompassed so much material, fully focused on preparing us for Part One of the national chiropractic board exam. This is really exciting, as I will now move into Phase Two, where my skills and practices will be honed and focused further. Yet, this is also slightly terrifying. Completing Phase One means that I know have to more seriously start preparing for the board exam and can’t just look at It as something in the future. It is now my present reality. I do believe we as students here at NUHS are prepared more than adequately through our curriculum, and I plan to attend some additional review classes, but the idea of taking a standardized test with this level of importance, alongside still having a full course load, is daunting.

On a lighter note, looking back at the past four trimesters has left me really proud of what I have accomplished, and this makes me excited when thinking about my future here at NUHS. Moving forward, I will have a new advisor, switching from Dr. Khlar to Dr. Freeman. As I have said before, and will continue to repeat, I believe one of the reasons I have been able to do so well and succeed thus far has been our incredible staff and that of course includes my advisors. I can always count on them to be in my corner and support me in every way necessary. This first phase was a really amazing growth opportunity, and I can’t wait to see how much more I will learn throughout Phase Two.

This has only been my first trimester of blogging, and I truly loved hearing feedback from anyone who has read my posts. I have felt like I can share my voice and help others who valued insight into my life as a student. I can’t wait to continue writing and sharing my journey, and good luck to everyone on final exams!

Personal Thoughts on Making a Difference

When I first entered chiropractic school, I believed that what we did was adjust and treat spinal conditions. However, chiropractic care is so much more than any individual aspect of care; it is an ideology of wholistic health care not driven from the treatment of illnesses, but actually aligning all aspects of life with the ultimate goal of health and preventive care.
