Enjoying the Florida Heat

The last two weeks have been pretty busy with early assessment exams (basically stage one of midterms). Not much to report from school outside of studying and test taking. But we all got through it without any incident.

LR Sunset Beach

I took some time this week, since the exam load was lightening up, to go outside and enjoy what Florida has to offer. On Wednesday night I went to my triathlon club’s weekly beach run. We have a team that meets up at a local business–Clever Training–in Indian Rocks Beach (about 20-25 minutes from our school) and we run anywhere from 3 to 8 miles on the sand. It was a little hot and humid this week, but the sunset was certainly very pretty.

Yesterday I went for a nice long walk at Sawgrass Lake Park. This is one of my favorite places to go when I have some free time; it’s only about 15 minutes from our school. Since moving here, I have been blown away by the varieties of different wildlife here in Florida. I have seen so many animals that I had never seen anywhere but in zoos, everything from raccoons to opossums, owls, otters, armadillos, and alligators! I love having a nice place to retreat to and walk around for a few hours–I try to go at least a few times a month!

Later Gator

Looking forward to this week, we have a long weekend coming up! Thursday and Friday are canceled for our school’s Homecoming break. I am definitely looking forward to relaxing and taking advantage of some extra free time.

Personal Thoughts on Making a Difference

When I first entered chiropractic school, I believed that what we did was adjust and treat spinal conditions. However, chiropractic care is so much more than any individual aspect of care; it is an ideology of wholistic health care not driven from the treatment of illnesses, but actually aligning all aspects of life with the ultimate goal of health and preventive care.
