Joe Cantu, DC
After graduating from National’s DC program, Dr. Joe Cantu (’93) completed a 3-year residency in radiology and diagnostic imaging through National’s Lincoln College of Postprofessional, Graduate and Continuing Education.
“I’ve always had an interest in diagnostic imaging and radiology. I always felt that chiropractic radiologists were some of the brightest individuals in our profession. I also knew it was one of the most challenging specialties. That’s why I felt so fortunate to have been accepted into a radiology residency at National. National was where chiropractic radiology had its beginnings.”
In 10 years of private practice, his list of accomplishments is extensive. Dr. Cantu:
- Is a full diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology
- Is certified in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography
- Founded and runs “Expert Radiology Consultation,” an x-ray reading company
- Is affiliated with Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville
- Sits on the University of Virginia’s Institutional Review Board for Health Sciences Research
- Is currently working on his second NIH grant studying chiropractic manipulation for acute low back pain
- Was recently selected as Virginia’s “Chiropractor of the Year”
“The public should expect a chiropractor to be an exceptional physician, says Dr. Cantu. “National provided me an excellent base of core knowledge essential in me becoming who I am today.”
