During the event, interns Gian Iannucilli, Antonio Jimenez, Bryan Pries, Jamie Pries, Emily Eilers, Travis Horne, Young Kim and Brian Peters, under the supervision of clinician Dr. Sonia Joubert, provided over 180 athletes and volunteers with free stretches and soft tissue work.

This is the second year NUHS participated in the Tour de Cure. “It’s exciting treating real people and being able to use the techniques we are learning into practice,” says intern Jamie Pries.

Meanwhile, DC interns, under the supervision of Dr. Anna Jurik from the NUHS Whole Health Center-Lombard provided chiropractic care for runners, walkers and volunteers participating in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” event (photos below), held in Four Seasons Park in Lombard.

All interns at National University participate in community outreach as part of their requirements for graduation. Working at events such as the Tour De Cure and Relay for Life not only provide the university and its students a chance to give back to the community, but also provide interns with hands-on experience in chiropractic sports medicine.
