National University has two openings for current students who wish to participate in a research project through the mentored research program coordinated between NUHS and University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health (UIC). Students can take advantage of opportunities in Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013.

Those accepted will enjoy the opportunity to work with a UIC faculty research mentor on a current project at UIC. There are many areas of research available, including basic science, clinical science, clinical trials and epidemiological studies. The student’s commitment would involve 15 to 20 hours of research activity per week, and attending 2 UIC courses, either online or at the UIC campus. The student would receive a stipend, and all UIC tuition costs would be paid by an NUHS EBP grant (NIH Grant # 2R 25 AT002872).

Accepted students will have the opportunity to professionally present and possibly publish research, and will attend a professional conference with the mentoring faculty member related to the research project and research interests.

Students are not required to be enrolled in the coordinated graduate degree program (MPH or MS CTS) to take part in these current opportunities and can retain their full-time NUHS student status.
