David Miller Pediatrics 1: Children with Attention Concerns, Saturday, 6/23, 10:15 – 11:45 am David Miller, MD, is dually certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is currently legislative director for the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and president of the Illinois Acupuncture Federation. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the National Physician’s Alliance, and a member of the Illinois State Medical Society. In this session he offers an overview of pediatric development, integrating this knowledge into a discussion on Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (“ADD/ADHD”). |

Kristine Tohtz Pediatrics 2: Adjunctive Therapy for Kids, Saturday, 6/23, 2:00 – 3:30 pm Kristine Tohtz, DC, graduated magna cum laude from National in 2001. She holds a diplomate in acupuncture, a certification in pregnancy and pediatric care, and is a certified post partum doula. After her graduation from NUHS, she served as an instructor in chiropractic practice and a staff clinician at National for four years. Dr. Tohtz continues to teach on pregnancy and pediatric care topics through National’s Lincoln College. This lecture offers an overview of Cranial Sacral Therapy and its therapeutic uses for children with a variety of pediatric disorders such as reflux, torticollis and plagiocephaly. |

Rick Osbourne Childhood Obesity Prevention, Sunday, 6/24, 11:30 – 12:30 pm Mr. Osbourne is a writer and a childhood obesity prevention specialist who spent 17 years as a physical educator and coach. He currently serves as president of the Pull Your Own Weight Foundation, a not-for-profit, functional childhood obesity prevention initiative. Osbourne is a member of the American Society of Exercise Physiologists, and author ofStrong at Everything, Weak at Nothing: How toMotivate Your Kids to Eat Better, Exercise More, and to Immunize Themselves Against Obesity for Life.He provides health care practitioners with a practical understanding of how to address childhood obesity with a functional approach. |
