Services for Students

Computers
Computers are located along the southeast side of the James F. Winterstein Library.

Electronic Journals
A-to-Z (Full Text Finder) manages our electronic journals providing users with a single, comprehensive online list of 90,672 journals and eBooks.

Group Study Rooms
You can reserve group study rooms for groups of three or more at the Circulation Desk. One or two people can use a room, but groups with reservations have priority (i.e. you can be bumped out of a room).

Placing Holds on Winterstein Library Material
Can’t find one of our books, journals or other resources? Place a hold on the item through the online catalog. (Instructions: Search, click on title, select “Place Hold” on left side of item record, enter library card number and PIN, select “Place Hold.”)

Interlibrary Loans
If you require a journal article or book from another library, you can request it by filling out the interlibrary loan request form below. Before submitting your request, you must check the NUHS online catalog and/or the NUHS Journal Holdings List and the database A-to-Z for availability in your NUHS library. Any requests for materials available at your NUHS location will be returned to you.

Photocopiers
Photocopiers are available in the Winterstein Library. The copiers use copy cards which are available from a machine in the photocopier area. You are responsible for observing federal copyright law. Please help maintain the copiers in good condition by keeping staples away from the copiers and by closing the lids gently.

Recommendations
Do you know a good book, journal, AV, or electronic resource that the James F. Winterstein Library doesn’t own? Recommend it for purchase by filling out a Recommendation Form. We will try to purchase it if funds are available. (Also available at the Circulation Desk.)

Reference Services
The James F. Winterstein Library faculty and staff can help you use the Winterstein Library. Contact the reference librarian or the student reference assistant if you wish to schedule in-depth instruction for yourself or a group (e.g. how to search a database, how to search the catalog).

The Anatomage Table
NUHS offers The Anatomage Table, which is housed in the James F. Winterstein Library. It is today’s most technologically advanced digital visualization system for anatomy education, and is available for students, faculty, clinicians and alumni, whenever the Winterstein Library is open.

Other Services
Reserve materials including anatomical models, board reviews, and the Academic Bulletin are available at the Circulation Desk.
